Meet the Original Creators The Author

A Name to Notice Eleanor H. Porter (1868–1920) grew up in Littleton, New Hampshire, in the White Mountains. Before becoming a well-known writer, she studied music in Boston and performed as a singer. The Sunbridge Girls at Six Star Ranch was published under the name Eleanor Stuart. Porter’s publisher later explained that it normally did not publish two books by the same writer in the same year, so her second book of 1913 appeared under a pen name.
